School Students Job Fairs

Job Fair 2/15/08 from 12pm to 4pm

Practice your interviewing skills. Approach your targeted companies. Offer your hand and introduce yourself with a smile on your face!!! Tell them you are interested in working for their company and why! Get business cards from employers and follow up!!! Don't overstay your welcome, but communicate your qualifications and your interest level. After each encounter, jot down key information: notes, topics discussed, what went well and follow up ideas!!!!

Student's who feel they need help with interview skills, please call Career Services at extension 1140 and we will be happy to assist you in any way we can!!!!!

Below you will find information about job fairs and how to prepare for them.

Why go to job fairs?

The purpose of a job fair is to see the ‘real world’. Based on the list of participating companies, you will be able to place yourself and your skills in that event. It is also a great opportunity to learn more about employers meet face-to-face with them at once and briefly interview. You should know that nothing replaces in-person contact for making an impression.

Before you go to a job fair:

• Learn about the employers from the website, library, or Student Career Services
• Prepare several copies of your resume
• Prepare a brief introduction to use with employers while you meet them
• Dress adequately for the interview
